Interesting -- as a "survivor" of both chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia -- whose symptoms can mimic MS -- there is most definitely a connection between chronic fatigue syndrome and Epstein Barr virus. I am also a survivor of meningitis which I had at age 10, and which may have been the origin of those later illnesses, which did not surface until I was in my '30s. I'd like to see a large scale study that looks at childhood illnesses and later disease manifestation such as MS, CFS, fibromyalgia, lupus -- the whole spectrum of mysterious auto-immune illnesses. And, oh, if you're suffering, find someone who will do blood testing and thyroid testing that goes way beyond the basic annual physical. It just might help you to discover that something is lurking in your blood and causing all the strange symptoms you are having. After finding a doctor who has treated CFS for over twenty years, who tested my blood like it had never been tested before - I had extremely high antibodies to Epstein Barr, CMV, walking pneumonia, and several other germs in my blood. After long term anti-viral and antibiotic treatment, along with more supplements than you can imagine -- I'm a new person. Having virtually no pain and more energy than I've felt since my 30s, after twenty years of suffering, has been like being released from prison. I needed to find someone who used both traditional medicine AND alternative medicine to get better.
